Forestry Mulching in Diamondhead, MS

Forestry mulching grinds brush, saplings and small trees where they stand and leaves the chips on the ground. We run a Shearex mulching head on a CAT 299D3 XE track loader. It's a good fit when you want to open up a wooded lot but keep the big trees, like this Pass Christian job.

Mulching vs. Clearing

Mulching leaves a park-like lot with the mature trees still standing and a layer of chips that holds the soil in place during heavy rain. Full clearing takes everything down to dirt so you can build or grade. Many jobs use a little of both: mulch most of the lot, clear just the house pad and driveway.

Chinese Tallow

Chinese tallow (popcorn tree) is the invasive tree that takes over empty lots along the Coast. It resprouts from the roots after it's cut, so expect to keep after it for a season or two after mulching.

What happens to the mulch?

It stays on the ground, where it breaks down and helps hold the soil.
